Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients across a broad range of diagnoses to determine needs, functional deficits, rehabilitation potential, and age-related considerations; perform periodic reassessments throughout the course of care.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment programs based on assessment findings, physician orders, and clinical judgment using modalities and techniques appropriate to patient age, diagnosis, and condition.
• Document all evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and relevant patient information accurately in the medical record.
• Delegate and supervise treatment tasks to PTAs, students, and support staff in accordance with legal and professional standards.
• Coordinate care and treatment planning with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members; provide education on diagnosis, treatment plans, self-care, and preventive measures.
• Maintain a safe treatment environment through proper use of equipment, adherence to patient safety protocols, and demonstration of age-specific care competencies across the lifespan.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of physical therapy experience required.
• Acute care experience required; patient population may include joint replacements, stroke/neuro, cardiac, pulmonary (COPD, pneumonia), orthopedic injuries, amputations, general medical/surgical, and ICU/critical care.
• Active Michigan Physical Therapist license in good standing (LARA verified).
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Current Physical Therapy Skills Checklist (within the past year) required at time of submission.
• Two supervisory references with dates of employment required at time of submission.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience serving as a Clinical Instructor or mentor for PT or PTA students.
• Familiarity with inpatient acute care settings including ICU and critical care patient management.
